Boiler Replacement Cost in Minnesota (2026)
What a new boiler costs in Minnesota: national ranges, cast iron vs condensing vs combi, steam vs hot water, chimney venting, and why the radiators stay.

Woodbury heat comes almost entirely from forced-air furnaces, so our boiler work here is mostly in-floor radiant heat in garages and basement slabs, plus combi boilers that feed those loops. A service call is a $79 trip charge, waived when you approve the repair, and the repair price is given in writing first.
Woodbury's first subdivision dates to 1955, but most of the city went up in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s with forced air from the builder, so radiator systems are scarce. The hydronic heat we do see is newer and smaller: in-floor heat in some three-car garages, radiant tubing in some basement slabs, and wall-hung condensing boilers or water heaters feeding those loops.
The problems are predictable. Air gets into a loop after a repair and a zone stops heating. A circulator seizes after a summer off. A mixing valve drifts and the floor runs too cool. Garage loops carry antifreeze that breaks down and needs testing. Condensing boilers need the condensate trap, the neutralizer and the PVC venting checked, and the vent termination kept clear of snow like any high-efficiency furnace's. If the boiler also heats your domestic water, it gets checked before winter rather than after the first cold shower.

At the heat source and the pressure gauge. If the boiler or water heater feeding the loop fires and the pressure is normal, we check the circulator, then the mixing valve and the slab sensor on the thermostat. Low pressure points to a leak or lost fluid, which matters on a garage loop because the antifreeze protects the slab. Once fixed, a garage slab takes a long time to warm back up.
For most Woodbury houses, no, because they're built around forced-air furnaces and central air. A combi boiler makes sense when a home has radiant floors to feed and modest hot-water use, since it heats both from one wall-hung unit. In a large two-story with several bathrooms running at once, a boiler with an indirect water tank usually keeps up better. We look at the loads before recommending either.
