How a ductless mini-split gets installed in a Twin Cities home

  1. 01

    Zone load + head placement

    We do a Manual J per zone — every room a head serves — and pick a head location that throws air across the room, not into a couch back.

  2. 02

    3" core through the wall

    A single 3" core is drilled through the exterior wall at a slight downward pitch so condensate gravity-drains outside without an interior pump where possible.

  3. 03

    Indoor head mounted

    The mounting plate is shimmed level (critical for condensate), the head clipped on, and the line-set is dry-fit before brazing.

  4. 04

    Line-set, condensate & control wire run

    Copper line-set is brazed under nitrogen purge or flared with the manufacturer's torque spec. Condensate line and 14/4 control wire run inside line-hide on the exterior wall.

  5. 05

    Outdoor unit set & wired

    Outdoor inverter sits on a wall bracket above snow line or a ground pad. A dedicated 240V circuit (single-zone) or 30A circuit (multi-zone) is pulled to the disconnect.

  6. 06

    Vacuum & open service valves

    System is evacuated to 500 microns, decay-held, then the factory charge is released by opening the service valves. Refrigerant is added only if line-set exceeds the factory pre-charge length.

  7. 07

    Commissioning & app pairing

    Heating and cooling modes are run, supply temperatures logged, and the WiFi kit (if equipped) is paired to the homeowner's phone.

  8. 08

    Rebate paperwork

    We file the Xcel ASHP rebate and confirm eligibility for the federal 25C credit before leaving the site.
