Central Minnesota Heating and Cooling has repaired and replaced furnaces, air conditioners and boilers in Minneapolis since 2009. From the city we work in every direction out to about 50 miles, including Saint Paul, the Lake Minnetonka towns, Watertown and the Crow River, Elk River and Monticello, Northfield and Red Wing, and Hudson and River Falls across the St. Croix. The price list is the same in all of them.
A service call starts with a $79 trip charge. The technician finds the fault, shows you what failed and writes down the price before touching anything. Approve the repair and the $79 comes off the bill. Repairs carry a 1-year parts-and-labor warranty; new installs carry 2 years on labor on top of the manufacturer's parts coverage.
Minnesota is hard on equipment. A furnace here runs from October into May, condensing furnaces can ice up their vent pipes in a cold snap, and a humid July finds every undersized air conditioner. We size replacements with a Manual J load calculation instead of copying the old nameplate.
Heating and cooling for Minneapolis Homes
Most of Minneapolis was built before 1940, and it shows in the basement. We work on converted gravity systems with oversized ducts, hot-water and steam boilers feeding cast-iron radiators, 80% furnaces sharing a chimney with the water heater, and story-and-a-half bungalows whose upstairs never got a duct. Newer condos and townhomes downtown and in the North Loop bring their own puzzles: tight mechanical closets, rooftop condensers and ductless mini-splits.
Gas in Minneapolis comes from CenterPoint Energy and electricity from Xcel Energy, so rebate paperwork usually runs through those two programs, and replacements need a City of Minneapolis mechanical permit. A service call anywhere in the city is a $79 trip charge, waived when you approve the repair.

How much does it cost to have a furnace or AC looked at?
The trip charge for a service call is a flat $79. The technician finds the problem and gives you a written price for the repair before any work starts. If you approve the repair, the $79 is waived. Tune-ups start at $129, or $219 for the furnace and AC together.
Which towns do you serve?
Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the towns within about 50 miles of them: the whole metro, the Lake Minnetonka towns, Watertown and the Crow River towns, Wright and Sherburne counties up to Monticello and Big Lake, the river towns from Le Sueur to Red Wing, and Hudson, River Falls and Prescott in Wisconsin. What are your hours?
We're open 7 days a week, 7am to 9pm, weekends included. A house with no heat in winter or no cooling in a heat wave goes to the front of the schedule. Call 612-429-3465 or send a request and we'll call you back.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Completed repairs carry a written 1-year parts-and-labor warranty. New furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and mini-splits carry a 2-year labor warranty from us on top of the manufacturer's parts warranty, which usually needs online registration after the install.
Should I repair my furnace or replace it?
It depends on age, the repair and the furnace's safety. A 10-year-old furnace with a failed inducer motor is usually worth fixing. A 20-plus-year-old furnace facing a big repair, or one with a cracked heat exchanger, usually isn't. We'll give you both prices in writing. Installed replacements run $4,500–$9,500.
