Triangle Tube closed in November 2025
Triangle Tube had been making hot-water heating equipment since 1946, and its own history says it was first to bring the fire-tube heat exchanger to residential boilers. It was based in West Deptford, New Jersey, and owned and operated by Groupe Atlantic of France, which also owns Ideal Boilers.
On November 3, 2025, Triangle Tube ceased operations. Its notice says open equipment orders would not be filled, stocking distributors could keep selling spare parts as long as parts remain available, and anything bought from that date on carries no warranty. The website also set September 30, 2026 as the deadline for final warranty claims.
None of that shuts your boiler off. A Prestige that runs well today will keep heating the house. What changes is the math on a big repair, because there's no manufacturer behind the parts anymore and no warranty to lean on.
Check the recall before anything else
Triangle Tube's 2025 recall, run with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, covered certain Prestige Solo and Prestige Excellence boilers, plus the AERCO Esteem, made between December 2011 and April 2019 with serial numbers starting AE, PT, PA, PTE or PEA. The company said delayed ignition or component damage could release carbon monoxide, and its notice cites two reported deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning and 25 reports of CO leaks. Registration closed January 31, 2026, and the recall itself has closed, but the ignition update kit is still available through a supplier Triangle Tube names on its website. An earlier recall on PT, PA, PEA, PB and PEB-prefixed Prestige boilers involved a vent adapter.

What goes wrong with Triangle Tube boilers in Minnesota?
A Triangle Tube gets the same winter problems as any wall-hung condensing boiler, plus a few of its own.
Ignition trouble. A hard, delayed light-off is the symptom the recall was about, so we treat it as a safety call. We check the igniter, the gas pressure at full fire and the combustion numbers with an analyzer before the boiler goes back in service.
Cold-weather shutdowns. Sub-zero weather freezes condensate lines that run along cold walls and frosts over sidewall vent terminations, and a snowbank against the intake does the same. We check the routing, the slope and the clearances.
Dirty system water. Sludge and scale from an old radiator loop coat the heat exchanger and cut heat transfer. Triangle Tube published water quality guidance for the Prestige and Instinct, and following it costs far less than a heat exchanger nobody makes anymore. Kettling or rumbling is often the first sign; our post on boiler banging and kettling noises explains it.
Controls and sensors. CTRLMax boilers show faults in plain text, which speeds up diagnosis. Supply, return and flue temperature sensors are testable parts; a failed control module is the part to check availability on first. Should you repair or replace a Triangle Tube boiler?
We usually repair a Triangle Tube when the fix is a sensor, igniter, pump or valve and the part is in hand. We usually recommend replacing it when the heat exchanger leaks, when a control module or gas valve can't be found, or when an older boiler needs a big repair with no warranty behind it. If yours is past ten years old, price a replacement in the fall instead of during a January no-heat call.
A replacement usually goes on the same wall: another wall-hung condensing boiler, sized from a heat-loss calculation, reusing the near-boiler piping and indirect tank where they fit. National cost guides such as HomeGuide put a high-efficiency boiler replacement at $4,000–$10,000; we quote in writing after we see the system.

Is my Triangle Tube boiler part of the recall?

Circulators, expansion tanks and zone valves around the boiler aren't brand-specific. A control module, gas valve or burner part is the kind of item to worry about. Is my Triangle Tube still under warranty?
Plan as if it isn't. Triangle Tube said anything bought on or after November 3, 2025 carries no warranty, and its website set September 30, 2026 as the deadline to file a final warranty claim. After that there is no manufacturer to send a failed heat exchanger or control back to, so repair decisions come down to the boiler's age, its condition and whether parts exist.
Why does my Prestige Excellence run short of hot water in winter?
The Excellence stores 14 gallons in its tank-in-tank heater and reheats it with boiler water. Triangle Tube rated the Excellence 110 at 55 gallons in the first 10 minutes and 210 gallons in the first hour, based on 50°F water heated to 108°F through the factory mixing valve. Colder January water, a mixing valve set low, a failing tank sensor or a diverter valve that doesn't switch cleanly all cut into that.
What should replace a Triangle Tube when it fails?
Usually another wall-hung condensing boiler, sized from a heat-loss calculation rather than the old nameplate. The near-boiler piping, condensate drain and indirect tank can often stay, and the old vent may or may not meet the new boiler's venting rules. We look at the zones, the water quality and the vent route before recommending a make and size, then give you a written quote.
