The float switch did its job. When the condensate drain or trap clogs, water backs up into the pan, the float rises and cuts power to the cooling so it doesn't overflow onto the floor. Humid valley summers make more water and more slime. Turn the cooling off, and don't bypass the switch. We clear the line and trap, check the pump if there is one, and price it in writing.
