The ductless head in our Excelsior bedroom is dripping water. What's wrong?
Usually the condensate isn't draining. Each head catches water from its coil in a small pan, and it drains through a thin line that can clog with slime, sag or lose its slope, or run to a small pump that has failed. A very dirty filter or coil can also freeze and then drip as it thaws. Turn the head off, clean the filter if you can reach it, and call us to clear the drain and check the charge.
Our Excelsior condenser is squeezed between the house and a fence. Is that hurting it?
It can. A condenser pulls air in through its coil and blows it out the top, and if a fence, shrubs or a wall sit closer than the manufacturer's minimum clearance, it pulls its own hot exhaust back in. Pressures climb, the compressor runs hotter, and cooling drops on the hottest days. Trim plants back first. If the fence is the problem, relocating the unit is worth pricing at the next repair or replacement.
