Are there rebates for a new furnace in Hugo?
Hugo's gas comes from Xcel Energy, which makes Xcel's heating equipment rebates the program for a high-efficiency furnace. Electric programs depend on the address. On Xcel's side, look at its AC rebates, Saver's Switch, AC Rewards and the heat pump rebates paid through its Trade Partner Network. On the Connexus side, the co-op lists rebates for central air and for air-source, ductless and ground-source heat pumps, along with a reduced-rate dual-fuel program. Ask whether each one needs a registered contractor. The state's HEAR and HOMES programs are still not open. Rebate programs change every year, so check the utility's current terms before you buy.

Can the new furnace in our Hugo house reuse the existing PVC vent pipes?
Often, if the pipes are the right diameter, properly glued and supported, pitched back toward the furnace, and within the new model's maximum length for the number of elbows. Each manufacturer publishes its own venting table, and pipe that suited the old furnace can be too small for the new one. We check the run at the quote and replace any section that doesn't meet the new furnace's instructions.
Our Hugo townhome's furnace sits in a closet. Will a new one fit?
Usually. Furnaces come in several cabinet widths, and a model the same width as the old one normally drops into place, but the coil above it, the service clearance in front and the path out through the door also have to work. We measure all three at the quote. If the association has rules on where vents or condensers can go, bring them so the plan meets them.
