Our Cimarron home's furnace runs fine, yet the bedroom at the far end never warms up. Why?
In a manufactured home the supply duct runs the length of the house under the floor, and in a multi-section home a crossover duct links the halves underneath. If that crossover slips loose or gets crushed, or the underbelly is torn and cold air reaches the duct, the far rooms starve. We check airflow at the registers, then look under the home at the crossover and the main duct.
Our older house near Lake Elmo's Old Village shares a chimney between the furnace and water heater. What do you check?
Draft, first. We run both appliances and confirm flue gas goes up the chimney instead of spilling at the water heater's draft hood, and we test for carbon monoxide there and in the room. We inspect the flue connectors for rust and proper slope, and the chimney where we can see it. Minnesota requires working CO alarms within 10 feet of every sleeping room, so we'll flag a missing one.
