One level of our west Bloomington split-level stays cold, but the furnace runs. What's wrong?
If the house has zoning, check that first: a zone damper stuck closed or a failed zone control board can cut air to one level while the furnace runs normally. Without zoning, look at the registers and returns on that floor, since split-levels often have a long run to the upper bedrooms and a single return that starves them. We test damper motors, the zone board and airflow, then quote the repair in writing.
Water is pooling around the furnace in our east Bloomington basement. Where is it coming from?
On a condensing furnace, the likely sources are a clogged condensate trap, a cracked drain hose, or a floor drain that backs up when the washer empties. A sagging PVC vent can also send water back into the furnace. On an older 80% furnace with central air, it's usually the AC coil's drain pan in summer. We find the source before replacing anything, since standing water rusts burners and can reach the control board.
