Oakdale's housing tracks its growth spurts. The 1970s added more than 4,000 residents and the 1990s about 8,000, some of it on land annexed as the city filled out its boundaries after the Oakdale and Northdale townships combined. The 1990s wave brought two-stories and townhome associations, with longer duct runs to the second floor and equipment now 25 to 35 years old.
